What features are included in an enhanced OBD II diagnostic scan tool and what do they allow the technician access to?

What will be an ideal response?

1.Turn the check engine light off by clicking on the appropriate screen.2.File logging and playback of sensor values. This feature allows the capture of data parameters when an intermittent problem occurs while the scan tool is attached to the DLC to aid in diagnoses. This feature functions as a trip recorder and will record data just prior to and for a set period after the event is initiated. Generally, the more sensor data parameters that are monitored, the shorter the record time and response rate. It is beneficial to only highlight and record those sensor or actuator values that are suspected as being the problem area.3.Data may displayed as a value or, in some cases, may be graphed and/or displayed as a simulated gauge reading.4.Customize the data parameters displayed for viewing from all data fields to only a select few. The fewer the number of data parameters viewed at one time, the faster the data update rate will be on most scan tools. This generally improves the technician's ability to view intermittent sensor or actuator operation. Remember, all scan tools are only sampling meters; let them work at the fastest speeds possible.5.Enhanced manufacturer data is also available on some scan tools that once was only available on OEM scan tools as proprietary information.6.Information may also be downloaded to a PC for future reference or to build a customer file.7.Freeze frame data stored while a DTC is set is retrievable from the PCM memory to aid in diagnosing the cause of the DTC.8.Flash reprogramming of PCM, once only available with OEM scan tools.
