You are an officer who has just been called for an assignment to a rape crime. Upon arrival you meet with the victim, identified as Josephine. She has torn clothing, physical signs of injury and is crying. Discuss what your course of action will be

What will be an ideal response?

The first thing to do is to ensure Josephine receives medical attention. If you are not a female officer, you need to try to find one so that she may be more comfortable speaking to the same sex officer. If this is not possible, ensure the victim is reassured that she is safe and you will get her the help she needs. Make sure you maintain professionalism at all times during the interactions with the victim. Your interview should be brief until she has been through a medical screening. Do not ask detailed questions, simple to the point questions and speaking compassionately to the victim.
