Of the Third, Seventh, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments to the Constitution, which do you feel is the most important? Why?
What will be an ideal response?
This question has no right answer, but the student needs to articulate a solid basis for choosing the particular amendment issue. Few will likely choose the Third, prohibiting housing soldiers in private homes, but each of the remaining amendments arguably has significant importance. Many scholars feel the Ninth is very important in that it is vague and allows substantive rights to live with the states, while the Tenth amendment is almost as important since it embodies the principle of federalism.
