Why are granitic rocks found in Tibet? Why are shallow marine sedimentary rocks present in the higher parts of the

Himalaya? What will be an ideal response?

Granitic plutons resulted from subduction and partial melting of the Indian plate beneath
Eurasia. Upon impact of India with Eurasia, India’s low density and resistance to subduction
caused it to be underthrust about 2000 km beneath Asia. This underthrusting caused
sedimentary rocks formed in the sea south of Asia to be thrust northward into Tibet.
