Explain the use of a simple building pressurization test.
What will be an ideal response?
Small openings where air can leak out may be difficult to see, but they can be easily detected by means of a simple
building pressurization test. To perform this test, you need to slightly increase or decrease the air pressure in your
home relative to the outside air. This can be done using a fan that pushes air into the home, thus raising the inside
pressure, or one that pulls air out of the home, thus lowering the inside pressure. The slight difference in air
pressure in the home (above or below) compared to the outside will cause air to flow through any leaks.
