A growing number of states have passed voter referenda or legislative actions making marijuana available to smoke for a variety of medical conditions upon a doctor's recommendation. There is limited scientific evidence supporting the use of cannabis or cannaboid drugs as a medical therapy. A recent comprehensive meta-analysis of clinical trials of medical marijuana found some benefits for relieving nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy, specific pain syndromes, and spasticity from multiple sclerosis.
