Describe Super’s model of career choice readiness and the career choice competency measure that was developed based on this model. *Super believed that readiness to make career choices started in childhood and further developed in adolescence

What will be an ideal response?

Career choice readiness is dependent on career choice attitudes and career choice competencies
• Career choice attitudes – amount of thought or planning one has given to the occupational choice
• Career choice competencies – ability to apply knowledge to the world of work
Career choice readiness focuses on four variables: two career choice attitudes of planfulness (future orientation, awareness of choices to be made) and exploration (curiosity of the world of work) and two career choice competencies of one’s knowledge of the world of work (knows requirements and has detailed knowledge about the occupation interested in) and decision-making competence
Career Development Inventory (CDI) was developed and based on Super’s model of career choice
CDI is currently the best measure of career choice competencies
