What has happened to CD sales in recent years, and why?

What will be an ideal response?

ANS: Because of legal and illegal file-sharing, CD sales have fallen from a peak of almost 800 million albums in 2000 to 500 million albums in 2007. The 10- to 12-track album as the dominant mode of music sales is likely to continue to decline even though digital album sales over the Internet are now increasing. However, digital album sales do not make up for the loss of CD sales.
