A fixed-size virtual disk creates a file on a host computer that takes up exactly the amount of space provisioned for the virtual disk. A dynamic virtual disk on the other hand, utilizes only the amount of space required by the virtual machine. In terms of performance, a fixed size virtual disk has the advantage.
