How are drugs involved in the offending patterns of some burglars? Might effective drug-treatment programs reduce the number of burglaries committed? Why or why not?
What will be an ideal response?
Some types of burglars are more likely to use drugs than others. The use of drugs and alcohol is more common among middle-range burglars. Many active burglars are motivated by the need to support a party lifestyle, which includes illicit drugs, and are more likely to use the proceeds from burglary to buy drugs rather than to pay bills.
