Why does the term "planet" have a different meaning when applied to brown dwarfs than in our solar system?
What will be an ideal response?
In our solar system, a planet is a large body in orbit about only the Sun. If a collapsed body is less than 12 Jupiter masses, it is termed a planet, even if it forms on its own, independent of any star; we have found these in the Orion Nebula.
