Explain, in the context of the rock cycle, how a metamorphic rock can become sedimentary rock again. What will be an ideal response?


Once formed, a metamorphic rock can be uplifted by tectonic forces of mountain building into a
mountain range. Exposure to the atmosphere then results in the wearing away of the mountain range,
wherein particles are carried away by, for example, rivers and streams as sediment. These particles are
then deposited in layers, usually within a body of water, and ultimately can become hardened into
sedimentary rock.
