What should you teach A.P. about chlamydial infection?

What will be an ideal response?

A.P. must understand that chlamydial infection is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by
Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydial infection, if left untreated, might result in sterility, increased risk
of ectopic pregnancies, perihepatitis, arthritis, and dermatologic problems. It should be suspected
when the male sexual partner exhibits signs of urethritis and the woman exhibits symptoms such
as a yellowish vaginal discharge and painful urination. Gonorrhea and chlamydial infections often
coexist.
