Describe a goal-setting process outline you would use for a psychoeducational group focused on domestic violence.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Beginning with preplanning, the social worker would need to be very clear about the purpose of the group and logistics for the group, and have full support and participation by those invited members. Simultaneously, the social worker is reviewing EBP and EI literature for the most current and appropriate resources as a starting point for the 10-week psychoeducational intervention. The first full-group meeting in the formation stage is an opportunity to engage the members in a shared decision-making process to ensure that most, perhaps all, members’ concerns, issues, and goals are established. Some individual goals may change throughout this group process, but not the original goal of providing an educational intervention to support survivors of domestic violence relationships.
