What should a speaker keep in mind when selecting a topic appropriate to persuasion?

What will be an ideal response?

First, a speaker should make sure that the topic fits the criteria of the assignment or speaking occasion. Then a speaker should consider his/her own interests so the speaker can be enthusiastic about the topic in the presentation. Another consideration is that if the topic is one that the speaker likes enough to conduct a thorough amount of research on.

In addition to the speaker's interests, a speaker should also select a topic that will be relevant and interesting to audience members. Further, the topic should generate a wide range of opinions that generate debate, making the topic more interesting.

The scope of the topic is also important and should be able to be discussed within the time frame allowed. Finally, the speaker should have a reasonable goal for the action required by the audience members.
