Some precautions with homework assignments include focusing on the tasks being not too complex or onerous and goals being easily completed which helps the client learn that change is gradual and to feel a sense of success in the accomplishment. Homework should be individually tailored to the client. Regular practice is important. Tasks should fit easily into the client’s lifestyle. Homework should become more challenging as the client successfully masters the previous tasks.
