How are prisons in England and Wales categorized?

What will be an ideal response?

Prisons in England and Wales are categorized according to the level of security. Category A prisons are maximum security prisons that house highly dangerous offenders, Category B prisons are medium security prisons, Category C house minimum security prisoners who can’t be trusted in open conditions but who are unlikely to try to escape, and Category D prisons are open and allow prisoners a lot of freedom, including working in the local community. There are also special prisons for the mentally ill, and remand centers (analogous to American jails) for prisoners serving short sentences or for individuals awaiting trial or other court hearings.
