Explain how a wet-bulb thermometer works.

A wet-bulb thermometer is a thermometer that has a wet wick wrapped around its bulb. As the thermometer is moved through the air, some of the water evaporates. During the evaporation process, the water absorbs heat. Some of this heat is absorbed from the bulb and the temperature drops. If the air is very humid, the water from the wick cannot evaporate so the wet-bulb temperature will not drop much. If the air is very dry (low humidity), the wet-bulb temperature will drop a great deal.
