Describe an air-to-air heat pump.

What will be an ideal response?

The most frequently used heat pump is an air- to-air unit. It has a compressor similar to those used in refrigerators. A refrigerant (a gas) circulates in coils. In heating mode, the coils in the exterior unit enable the refrigerant to absorb heat from outdoor air. The refrigerant is then transferred to a compressor where compression raises its temperature. It then transfers to indoor coils, a blower moves air over it, which captures the heat and distributes it through a building via ducts. In cooling mode, the reverse happens. Heat is absorbed by the inside coils and dispersed to outside air by the outside coils.
