Explain the difference between predictive accuracy and predictive scope.
What will be an ideal response?
Predictive accuracy: A theory has merit and is useful to the extent that it accurately predicts what is observed. That is, the theory has generated a large number of research hypotheses that have supported it. This is the most important criterion.
Predictive scope: The scope or range of the theory and thus the scope or range of the hypotheses that can be derived from it. That is, how much of the empirical world falls under the explanatory umbrella of Theory A compared to how much falls under Theory B.
