Describe civil versus criminal actions in the abuse of older adults

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Deciding which course of action to take on the perpetrator of elder abuse has multiple factors. Often the perpetrator is a family member. The older adult may not want to prosecute or is embarrassed that they were a victim. Ultimately it is up to the prosecutor to make the final decision on criminal complaints and they must consider the status of all parties and the level of severity of abuse.
