What changes were brought to both Eastern and Western societies by the sexual revolution?
What will be an ideal response?
There was a greater sense of freedom of sexual identity in the last half of the twentieth century because birth control measures became more widely implemented, which produced demographic changes as well. Birthrates declined across Europe, and while western Europe could cope with this change through guest worker programs, in the East, the former acceptance of religious freedom was downplayed to repopulate and maintain economic productivity. There was a greater transmission of sexual morality through pop culture as well, via movies, musicians as role models, and a fascination with the cult of celebrity. Much of this was due to increased degrees of communication through television, radio, magazines, and films. These new ideas of sexuality were widely transmitted as a possibility, a new way of life that did not have to be bound by the traditions of past generations.
