Discuss why a draftsperson might use notes on a drawing.
What will be an ideal response?
The draftsperson often resorts to the use of notes on a drawing to convey to the mechanic all the information needed to make a part. Notes such as those used for drilling, reaming, counterboring, or countersinking holes are added to ordinary dimensions.
A note may consist of a very brief statement at the end of a leader or it may be a complete sentence that gives an adequate picture of machining processes and all necessary dimensions. A note is found on a drawing near the part to which it refers.

Consider steady heat conduction in a plane wall whose left surface (node 0) is maintained at 40°C while the right surface (node 8) is subjected to a heat flux of 3000 W/m2. Express the finite difference formulation of the boundary nodes 0 and 8 for the case of no heat generation. Also obtain the finite difference formulation for the rate of heat transfer at the left boundary.
