Think of a probable employer with whom you would like to interview. How can you learn to whom you should address your cover letter? Write the name, title, and address of the person in your answer. ?

Call your target employer and say that you are researching careers and want to write to the person who specializes in your area. Get the person’s full name and title and verify the spelling and mailing address or email. Search the company’s website for an organizational chart or contact information. If this is not available, contact the human resources office (if your target employer has one). Ask whether there is an organizational chart you could use for your career planning class or personal research. Contact employees on LinkedIn, or other social media sites, who currently work for the company and ask if they can direct you to the right person. As a last resort, address the prospecting letter to a hiring manager, department head, or human resources department and use the address from the company’s website.
