What is the difference between an MBR disk and a GPT disk?

What will be an ideal response?

A Master Boot Record (MBR) based disk creates an MBR and a partition table at the beginning track and sectors of the disk. The MBR is located in the first sector and track of the hard disk and has startup information about partitions and how to access the disk. The partition table contains information about each partition created, such as the type of partition on MBR disks, size, and location. Also, the partition table provides information to the computer about which partition to access first. Using a Globally Unique Identifier Partition Table (GPT) disk means that partition information will be stored in each partition using main and backup tables. Also, each partition is identified by a different GUID or reference number. GPT has the ability to enable the use of drives in excess of the 2 TB size limit imposed by MBR.
