Briefly discuss the new religious movements founded in the Western world.

What will be an ideal response?

New religious movements in the West are widely diverse. Most of them come from Christianity, the dominant religion in the West, but many do not.
Two of the earliest significant new religious movements in the United States were the Seventh-Day Adventists and the Jehovah's Witnesses. The LDS ("saints living in the latter days" of human history) movement begun by Joseph Smith drew some of its energy from apocalypticism.
The Utopian impulse in millenarianism underlies the New Age movement that arose in the 1970s and 1980s outside the Christian tradition. REJ: Please see the section "New Religious Movements in the World Today: A Survey" for more information.
