The purpose of the tube is to drain urine from the tissue around the area where the stone was removed to allow healing, preventing complications and obstructions.
It is inserted through the skin into the renal pelvis and should be maintained to stay free of kinks, clots, or other obstructions to prevent damage to the kidney tissue.
