Compare and contrast reform movements and revolutionary social movements. Provide one example of each.

What will be an ideal response?

Vary. Reform movements try to bring about limited social change by working within the existing system, usually targeting social structures, such as education or medicine, and directly targeting policy makers. Examples of reform movements are pro-choice or anti-abortion groups. On the other hand, revolutionary social movements seek fundamental changes of the system itself. These types of social movements, such as the U.S. civil rights movement or the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa, consider the political system the key to system change.
