What will be an ideal response?

Answers will vary but responses should cover the following:A balanced approach to reading instruction combineselements of direct skills instruction and elements of holistic instruction. Teachers who use a balanced approach offer authentic literacy activities in the classroom, but also teach skills directly to help students succeed in those activities. Teachers can incorporate explicit instruction in basic skills as a part of complex projects that demand high-level literacy skill. In this way, they prepare students for real life as well as for annual tests.
