One of the first steps in building a Web site is to learn as much as possible about your intended audience. Describe the following methods and explain the ideal situations to use them:  (1) Focus group, (2) Visitor survey, (3) Market research, and (4) Traffic Analysis

What will be an ideal response?

1. A focus group is an in-person discussion with a small group of current or potential Web site visitors.  You should use a focus group when you need subjective information about visitors' attitudes and initial reactions to site designs and features.
2. A visitor survey is a questionnaire distributed to site visitors.  You should use a visitor survey when you need information about demographics, technology use, and the users' likes or dislikes about the site features and design.
3. Market research is research published by companies describing a particular target market or trends in a specific industry.  You should use market research to gather big-picture data about the market or audience.
4. Traffic analysis software is used to track how visitors interact with your site, including frequency of site visits and pages visited.  You should use this software to determine how visitors use your site, what areas of your site are the most  popular, and what browsers and screen sizes visitors use.
