What does cross-disciplinary communication look like and why is it critical to MDTs?
What will be an ideal response?
Team members and their agencies must be willing to devote the added energy needed to build communication lines across disciplines and agencies.Without clear and unambiguous communication, efforts to work together break down and can inadvertently lead to actions that are at cross-purposes to the goals of the team. As teams meet consistently, they tend to learn the terms that others use and the group builds a shared language that blends the terminology of the different disciplines in a sort of common team language that is understood by the team members. Team communication can be formal or informal, but should be continuous, and the use of regular meetings is an effective way to enhance communication.
