Describe the family dynamics of an adult child -parent relationships that would be more or less likely to result in an informal caregiving relationships
What will be an ideal response?
Adult children who are still emotionally y and financially dependent on parents may find it very difficult to accept the reality of the parent’s dependence on them and feel very stressed in the role. Adult children who have had a traumatic or conflictual relationship with a parent throughout their life may conflicted about providing care for a parent they perceived as uncaring for them. Adult children caregivers may also feel the stress of having to maintain hours in outside employment of concerns about the financial loss, associated with loss of job. Their own child care may certainly also cause additional stress. Since some cultures hold expectations of care for parents, adult children with outside responsibilities may be conflicted about loyalty to parents vs. attending to the other expectations upon them.
