Discuss how signs and symptoms are alike. Describe how they are different. Give four examples of each.

What will be an ideal response?

Signs and symptoms are alike in that they both describe the disease process in the patient's body. They are both important observations. Signs are something that you can see, feel, or hear. They are objective observations. Symptoms are different because they are subjective observations and must be reported to another person by the patient. Examples of signs are skin color, fast or slow pulse rate, high or low blood pressure, vomiting, and diarrhea. Examples of symptoms are nausea, dizziness, pain, nervousness, and numbness.
