Explain how the treadmill of production and the treadmill of consumption are “dialogically interconnected.”

What will be an ideal response?

The two twin treadmills of production and underproduction interlock with the
treadmill of consumption. Increasing the pace of the consumption treadmill increases
the pace of the production twins, and vice versa. The desire to increase the pace of one
treadmill depends in part upon the social conditions created by the other. For example,
the desire for more is propelled by both the treadmill of consumption and the twin
production treadmills through the relationship between more and profit. Because you
need profit to survive on the production and underproduction treadmills, they encourage
people to regard profit as a virtue.
