According to sociologists, what is society's image of a good mother? A good father? How do those images impact how parents who chose to balance their work life with family (i.e. work part time) are viewed?
A "good mother" is someone who is always available to her children. A "good father" is a man who provides for his family. Thus, women who chose to work part-time in order to have more time with their families are seen as good mothers, but only adequate workers. A father who chooses to do the same loses status as both a worker and a father.
