Why was New Science considered revolutionary and how did it constitute a new shift in intellectual thinking?

What will be an ideal response?

The widespread reintroduction of classical scientific texts during the Renaissance had piqued interest in the intellectual developments, but significant progress was slow. In part, progress was slow because one of the areas of science considered problematic was the study of anatomy, which was prohibited by the Catholic Church. Other areas, such as astronomy, were said to contradict the authority of not only the church, but also God's ordering of the universe. The New Science shifted from traditional thinking by deriving an empirical methodology and precise system known as the scientific method. Intellectuals then attempted to apply this type of rational thinking to the human condition, ultimately giving consideration to the new social sciences.
