Explain why a reduction in base load in a home’s power use will have a more significant impact on power costs than a similar-sized reduction in peak demand.
What will be an ideal response?
Base load is continuous. The amount of power it consumes over time is large even though the amount consumed at
any given time may be only a quarter or less of peak demand consumption. This is true even though the charge for
peak demand power may be double or even triple that for base load power.
