Explain the two types of apparent motion. Give an example for each type.

What will be an ideal response?

Examples will vary. The two types of apparent motion are beta motion and phi motion. With beta motion, an object is perceived as realistically moving on the basis of a series of stationary images being presented sequentially. An example of this is a movie. With phi motion, a person can discern the elements that cause the motion, such as individual light bulbs in a Las Vegas display.
