Assuming you live in the U.S., if you could go back in time and mature early, late, or on time, what would you choose and why? Support your answer with research findings that include short-term and/or long-term effects

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: As a female, it would be best to mature on time because girls who mature early tend to have a negative body image. They are already ahead of their male counterparts in physical development, so they feel really out of place. In addition, the female ideal of being thin means that earlier maturation moves them further from the cultural ideal. Maturing early is also linked with delinquency, school problems, and pressure to engage in sex. Late maturing girls may also feel as though they don't fit in, so it is best to be on time.
