A valid deed includes the names and current status of the grantor and grantee, the date of execution, a recital of consideration, words of conveyance, a legal description of the property, the signatures of the grantor and witnesses, and an acknowledgment. In addition, some states require the inclusion of other items such as the property appraiser’s identification number and/or the preparer’s name and address.
