What is informed consent? Why is it important, and how does it differ depending on who is being evaluated?
What will be an ideal response?
Informed consent discloses the risks, benefits, and reasoning behind the evaluation. It is important because it lays out the limits of confidentiality. This can be particularly important if the evaluee is being accused of illegal behavior. The evaluee has the right to know that the evaluation is not confidential, moreover, whether or not it is therapeutic or forensic.
