As outlined in the textbook each state has exclusive jurisdiction in the areas of codification of civil and criminal law, and as such are free to design their own state court system and the state Supreme Court system
Search your home state or any of the fifty states and design a PowerPoint presentation that outlines how that state court system is organized.
Instructors can assign states to students to reduce duplication and have the students present or share their findings in class or electronically. Each PowerPoint presentation should have some common key points including: discussion of the state felony court, discussion of the state misdemeanor court, any specialty courts, how the court system is organized, and discussion of the appellate court system.
