What is the reason that nuclear utility plants are so expensive? Cite evidence in your answer
What will be an ideal response?
There are two major reasons that U.S. nuclear facilities are so expensive. First,
most existing nuclear power stations are one of a kind and are built almost entirely in the
field. Field construction is considerably more expensive than factory prefabrication. Second,
the regulatory climate for nuclear energy is far more stringent than for coal-fired plants,
causing a great difference in cost in meeting regulatory standards.
