What is meant by mixed flow? How is it different from unmixed flow?
What will be an ideal response?
The terms mixed and unmixed flow is usually used in describing the flow of
fluids in cross-flow heat exchangers. A cross flow heat exchanger is one where
one of the fluids is flowing perpendicular or across the other fluid, through
tubes or plates. If the tubes or plates are large then the flow tends be a mixed
condition and if the tubes or plates are arranged so that small amounts of fluid
pass through the ducts, the condition is describes as unmixed flow.
