Flat rate is a pay system in which a technician is paid for the amount of work they do. Each job has a flat rate time established by the manufacturer. Pay is based on that time, regardless of how long it took to complete the job. This system favors good technicians who work in a shop which has a large volume of work. It allows for more accurate repair estimates for the customers and rewards skilled and productive technicians
