What is IPv6?

What will be an ideal response?

The transition from the current IPv4, with its 32-bit address, to IPv6, with a 128-bit address field, will certainly solve the "lack of addresses" problem. The new Internet protocol provides for 2128 = 300 undecillion unique addresses-that's a 3 followed by 38 zeros. The designers were determined never to run out of addresses again! However, as of 2014, only about 4% of Internet traffic had switched to using this new version of IP, and it will likely be quite a few years before the final conversion to IPv6 becomes a reality.
