Discuss Victim Impact Panels (VIPs). Which nationally known organization introduced the concept of VIPs? What impact do VIPs have on victims?
What will be an ideal response?
VIPs consists of three or four speakers who have been seriously injured or whose friend or family was killed by a drunk driver and who share personal stories about how the accident affected their lives to a group of DWI offenders in a nonblaming manner. The concept of VIP was first introduced by MADD. Those who participate in VIPs value the process because they felt they could do something to prevent further DWIs and it helped them in their recovery process.
