List the three factors required for gene therapy, and explain the difference between ex vivo and in vivo gene therapy

What will be an ideal response?

There are two basic approaches to gene therapy. One, called in vivo therapy, transfers genes to cells at the location where they are found in the body. The second, called ex vivo therapy, transfers genes into cells that have been temporarily removed from the body and are returned to the body after the transfer procedure. There are several variations of each approach.
Gene therapy requires several things:
• copies of the gene to be transferred
• a delivery system, usually a vector that is an engineered virus
• the identification of target cells into which the gene will be transferred and in which the gene will be expressed
