The DSM system is dynamic and has undergone several revisions. How, and in what ways, has the system changed over the years? What factors influenced these changes?

What will be an ideal response?

DSM has expanded considerably over the years in terms of including new diagnostic categories. It has moved away from the psychoanalytic perspective and the description of underlying conflicts to a more objective, behavioral description of symptoms. The current version of the DSM-5 pays special attention to developmental and cultural influences on abnormal behavior.
