Briefly explain how educational requirements for corrections departments in large urban areas differ from other areas.
What will be an ideal response?
Some departments require only a bachelor's degree or even a high school education or GED. Those tend to be in areas where more highly educated workers are harder to attract and harder to keep. Prisons, jails, and probation and parole departments located in the larger urban centers tend to draw more educated staff who hold more progressive ideas about preventing recidivism and promoting rehabilitation.
